Clever swap card

Many of you know that my demonstrator group has a card swap every month – usually centered on a theme that is timely for the season.  Well, our March swap was to showcase some of the products in the Occasions Mini Catalog – but due to a mixup in scheduling I didn't receive my exchange cards back until just earlier this week.  I was particularly impressed with all the cards this month, but just *had* to single out Michele's design to share here.

It was actually Michele's husband who had the idea to clip the edges off the scallop circle (diecut) from the Big Shot to suggest the idea of gears.  Clever, huh?!?

Michele loves the vintage look, so I was not surprised that she would choose to feature the new stamp set "Sense of Time" for her swap card.  To see more details about this stamp set, check out page 22 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.

National Scrapbooking Month – Good things coming & Tips for better pictures

May is National Scrapbooking Month, and beginning on May 1st, Stampin' Up!® will be offering not one….. not two….. but THREE awesome specials and opportunities for you!  So come back here on Friday (May 1st) to find out what they are!

Um, what's that, you say?  You can't WAIT until Friday?!?  Well ok, ok, ok….. keep reading……

Oops!  Well, actually it's against the rules for me to post the details here publicly before they go into effect, and I certainly wouldn't want to get my wrists slapped by breaking the rules.  But maybe some hints will help:

One of the announcements will be an updated and expanded repeat of a product special that turned out to be THE most popular special (among my customers anyway) that Stampin' Up!® has ever offered……… one will be a sneak peek of something that will be introduced in the upcoming catalog (which is due to release July 1st, btw)……… and one will be……. well, let's just say I had to read the information through 3 FULL TIMES before I could even believe what I was reading!  I'll bet YOU won't believe it at first, either!

So be sure to come back here on Friday to see what's up….. OR if you think you might forget, then go ahead and subscribe to my blog via either email delivery or RSS feed so you'll get the news automatically.  (Sign up for your subscription over in the left-hand column of www.StamptheRock.com .  It's real EASY!)
And then while you're waiting, here's a link to a great blog about photography – with great tips and techniques for taking better photos.

Cuz afterall, it's almost National Scrapbooking Month (hint, hint).

To my guests (and downline) at the Seattle Regional – Friday session

If you have not yet finished your Make & Take projects from the Seattle Regional, you're invited to join me this Saturday afternoon, May 2nd (at my house) to finish them up.  I believe I now have all the supplies necessary to finish them – including that auxiliary stamp set.  And I'll try to get mine done between now and then so I will be familiar with the projects and can be of help to you, too!

If you'd like to join me Saturday afternoon, please give me a heads-up that you'll be here, and then if you'll be at Stamp-a-Stack that morning, how 'bout bringing your lunch and just plan to stay afterwards?

Surprise card from Shelli

So just as I was walking back off the stage at the conclusion of my little presentation at the Seattle Regional recently, Shelli was coming up the steps onto the stage for her next segment – and as she passed by me pressed an envelope into my hand as she said thank you. It all happened in a split second and I fear I may have had one of those "deer in the headlight" looks for a little while.

Well it was some time later before it occurred to me to actually OPEN the envelope, but once I did here's what I found inside.  Isn't it cute?!?

Deadline coming for “3 easy payments”

Just a couple days left to take advantage of the "3 easy payments" option for the purchase of a New Demonstrator Starter Kit.  Paperwork needs to be IN Stampin' Up!'s hands (in Riverton, Utah) by Thursday, April 30th.  Review the details here, and contact me if you'd like to take advantage of this special budget-friendly payment plan!

Lookie what I just discovered yesterday!

So yesterday I was poking around trying to learn something more about this mysterious world of Twittering…. (don't know WHY the whole thing terrifies me so, but I'm determined to gather the courage to send my first tweet within the next month, lol!)…… but in the meantime, in the process of my research yesterday I stumbled upon this fascinating website.  Whidbey Islanders, have you seen www.whidbeydaily.com ?

Inspiration strikes again!

So I woke up this morning just ITCHIN' to stamp!  And I knew exactly what I wanted to do, too.  I wanted to combine ideas from my posts of both of the past 2 days – this technique and this store display window.  But first I had to tend to several "have to" chores (don't you just HATE that – when inspiration is RIGHT THERE, but you're supposed to be a grown-up and do the "have to" things first?!?)  Well, truth is I only did a little bit of the chores and then sat down and stamped anyway; I was afraid if I waited too long the idea in my head would evaporate.  So anyway, here's what happened:

Apr-25-2009-001 Main colors are Blush Blossom, Sage Shadow, and Handsome Hunter.  The Sage Shadow isn't exactly a match to what's in the store display window, but it's what felt best for this first time through.

Remember I'll be teaching the technique used here and on the flower on this card, too, at my workshops in May.  If you'd like to learn how it's done, be sure to host or attend one!

Now back to my Saturday chores……..

Wanna learn how to do this, too?

Apr-24-2009-001 I just learned this gorgeous color technique within the past couple of days and man, oh man, do I LOVE it!  So I will be teaching how to do this technique at my workshops in May.  Wanna learn how yourself???  Then make sure you either show up for a workshop with me in May OR host one yourself!  (Hmmmm…… I wonder what colors I'll use for my workshops samples……)

Contact me soon…… while I still have some openings!
