Thanks, Janet!

A quick thank-you to Janet for hosting a fun workshop yesterday afternoon! It was delightful to meet her friends, and Janet was a great hostess!  We focused on quick projects that can still be made in time for Christmas – including tags and small gifts practical to create in volume for friends or co-workers – and guests each made 3 gift tags to take home and use.

Catching up & Half-price Demonstrator Starter Kit

Wow!  Get me going on a roll with designing for a string of make & take events one right after another, and days and days can slip by before I know what's happened.  And then I come back here and realize how long it's been since I posted.  Jeepers!  WHERE does the time go???

And guess what? I'm supposed to be designing at this very minute, too, 'cuz first thing tomorrow I'm meeting with my local downlines for our triannual Potluck Brunch and Shoebox Swap – one of my very favorite events of the year!  (And another perk of being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, btw.)

So I'm only grabbing a few minutes here, but just wanted to share a piece of really exciting news we learned recently:  that beginning on Monday (Nov. 15th), and running only through the end of this month, you can become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and only pay 50% for your Demonstrator Starter Kit!!!  That's right – just $87.50 for contents valued at about $310!!!

And that applies to EITHER starter kit, btw - the standard one or the Digital Plus version…… whichever you prefer.  These are full kits with all their regular contents, and you'll enjoy all the usual opportunities offered to all new demonstrators. The only thing discounted is the price!

So if you've been tossing around the idea of joining us and thinking about building a new business in the New Year, well, perhaps November just might be the right time to jump in! And if you're within driving distance of Whidbey Island you can catch us for our next demonstrator Potluck Brunch and Shoebox Swap - the 2nd Saturday of February!

Oops! If you couldn’t open my 13 gift tags document……

I just learned that there may have been some problem with opening the 9-page document referred to in the most recent mailing of my 12-Weeks of Christmas series.  If you subscribe to my mailing list and were unable to open the document with details of the 13 gift tags this past week, please email me at the address at the top of my blog (www.StamptheRock.com) and I'll send you the PDF file as an attachment.

While I still have not figured out the reason for the problem with that link (which worked when I first tested it….. odd), I am sorry if it may not have worked for you.  But please email me from the same address you subscribe to my mailing list with, and I'll send you the file as an attachment.

Thanksgiving stamping

PB070006

My November Stamp-a-Stacks are over, so I wanted to share one of the cards my ladies made this weekend. Actually, the version they made did not have the greeting element; I was inspired to add that just this morning before shooting this picture.

This card has a bit of story behind it; it was a special request from one of my class attendees.  Well, actually her request was to show an idea for this particular stamp set, Harvest Home.  Problem was, I didn't own it.  So we agreed that she would purchase the stamp set, and I'd assemble it, create the design, let everyone use it for class, and then return it to her.

Interestingly, along the way while working with it, I developed quite a fondness for this set!  I love watercoloring with our Aquapainters, and the colors (especially on the pumpkins) were really fun to work with.

To recreate the focal point, be sure to use our watercolor paper and Stazon Jet Black ink before watercoloring.  I used an Aquapainter, picking up ink from inside the cover of Classic ink pads.

Colors I used included Daffodil Delight, More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, and Cherry Cobbler (for the pumpkins), Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke, and Soft Suede (leaves, vines, and foreground), Cherry Cobbler & Pale Plum (house), and Baja Breeze (sky).

The background image was made with one of the additional stamps in that stamp set, too….. repeat stamping with the leaves image – Soft Suede ink on Always Artichoke cardstock.

You can find this pretty Harvest Home stamp set on page 29 of the 2010 Stampin' Up!® Idea Book & Catalog – or at my online store.  And make your reservations now for December's Stamp-a-Stacks (Dec. 3 & 4), in Langley, WA.  My contact info is at the top of this page.

How embarrassing

Well, shoot!  I wonder how long THAT's been going on?  Was just cruising around here on my blog and checking things out and doing a bit of general maintenance when I discovered the link on this month's "Bundles Promotion" was broken!  Hmmmm……  Wonder how long that's been a problem; I know for sure it worked when I first put it up there a couple weeks ago!  But a link only works as long as the object on the other end holds still, I guess……  and it appears that the page to which it used to point (on Stampin' Up!'s website) has disappeared sometime between then and now.

So my apologies if that may have been a problem for you.  It's fixed now – and I've got fingers crossed it'll stay "fixed" for a while, lol.

And so now that it IS fixed, why not go check out the holiday product bundles that are 20% off?  Quick, before THAT link stops working, lol!

New Private Classes coming your way

Have you ever thought it might be fun to take one of my classes privately with your girlfriends?

Well now you can!  And I've figured out a way you can even get hostess benefits for it, too!

In the coming weeks and months I'm going to be setting up several classes you'll be able to coordinate and host - exclusively with your own friends.  But while you'll certainly want to be on the lookout for the classes coming in the future, you don't have to wait for long…….  because the first of these classes is ready to go today!

Flyer - Medallion Portfolio-001

Now here are some things you'll want to know about how these will work.

The format of these classes will be such that each attendee will pre-order a kit of supplies that they'll receive when they come to class. Kits will be ordered a couple of weeks ahead of class time and will include consumable supplies that will be used in class, as well as several crafting tools that can be taken home and used again later.

As soon as we decide upon a date and location for your class you can start helping your friends fill out their orders for their supply kits.  (The order form is a customized single page downloadable PDF file – pretty self-explanatory.) Once you've collected all the orders and turned them in to me, I'll submit them all together under your name and you'll receive the hostess benefits earned based on their combined totals!  (Just like with a standard workshop, really - except the orders will go in ahead of when we meet so the supplies will arrive in time for your class.)

When orders arrive (they'll ship to me, btw) I'll prep everyone's kits, cutting cardstock to size, and adding in some additional incidental supplies, as needed.  And when the big day arrives for your class, I'll show up with everything that'll be needed, and we'll get right down to work!

The picture above shows the first of these classes; it's ready to go right now.  For more details and a closer look, click here……… and since this project would make an awesome Christmas gift for someone special (actually, supplies in this class kit will cover the consumable parts of gifts for FOUR "Someone Specials"!)……. so let's compare calendars to find a date for your class so you can get started inviting your friends right away!

Just think!  This class could help each of you cross off as many as FOUR names from your holiday gift lists this year without ever leaving the Island or going NEAR a mall!  And you'll have a ton of FUN at the same time!

Got Stampin’ Up! things on your holiday wish list?

If you've got a long wish list with Stampin' Up!® this year, why not let your family and friends know?

I'm here to help try to get you what you REALLY want under the tree this year – and your part is pretty simple.  Just fill out this PDF form and return it to me by no later than November 12th.  (Although the sooner, the better.)

Then I'll get in touch with the people you've designated, and drop a not-so-subtle "hint", so to speak – letting 'em know exactly what you've got on your wishlist, and what they can do about it if they'd like to!  And I'll monitor things to make sure you don't end up with duplicates, too.

So go ahead.  Be a little proactive with your wish list this year!  Download it here!

PS:  After you've listed the catalog products you'd like, don't forget to also list something like "A gift certificate in any amount to help with the things I've probably forgotten!"

You’re invited to an upcoming Mini Workshop!

Don't forget you can often click on images to view them larger, if you want.

Has it been a while since you've been invited to a Stampin' Up!® workshop, but none of your friends are having one real soon?  Well, THIS is for you, then!  A "mini' version of a workshop - at my house – where you can come get caught up!

I'm hosting two mini workshops at the end of this upcoming week:  Friday morning (Oct. 29) and Saturday morning (Oct. 30) - both at 10:00 am.  Pick one of 'em, make your reservations and come see what's goin' on!  More details here .

My Digital Studio Announcements today!

Today Stampin' Up!® announced a couple really exciting pieces of news for My Digital Studio fans!  The first is that most of their professional printer prices are coming DOWN!  Yes, DOWN!!!  And permanently!

Now when was the last time that the price of something came down – for good?!?  Well, here's a rare example.  And we're not talking just a couple of cents, either; most of the price reductions are from 15% – 60% !!!!

So take another look at having your projects printed through Stampin' Up!  As you know I LOVE their printing service…… and in fact, even uploaded 18 postcards for printing just this morning!

And speaking of postcards, another bit of news today is that there is a new free update for MDS.  And once you've installed it you'll notice more available projects than ever! Examples include several sizes and formats of postcards, a new tri-fold card, a journal (you design the covers, and it will be prepared with lined pages inside), and a smaller desk-size easel style calendar (year 2011).

So Woo Hoo!!  LOTS of ideas for gift-giving this holiday season!  The 18 postcards I designed this morning were invitations to a fun demonstrator event next month…… so let the season begin!
