Finally finished and available: Cardstock samplers

P8040001
I have finally completed my first batch of cardstock samplers! The first 3 are gifts, promised to my hostesses from this past year who placed 1st – 3rd in workshop sales (all had parties over $500), and I've got another handful ready for sale – $30 each.

With over 60 actual samples of Stampin' Up!'s cardstock, including all current In-Colors, standard color collections, Naturals & Confetti, glossy, metallics, vellums and even window sheets, this tool is an awesome reference for all Stampin' Up!® fans.  Plan the colors for your papercrafting projects, color-coordinate a wedding or other important shindig, or even select new paint colors when making over a room!

The large book ring (included) gives you plenty of room to add your own 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" samples of other materials (perhaps Designer Series Papers?), and the flexibility to arrange the contents in any way you prefer.  The sampler comes sorted by color collection, but it's a snap to rearrange by colors – for instance, putting all reds together, and all greens, etc.

I'll get these set up to order by PayPal in a few days, but for the time being if you want one from this first batch, feel free to just contact me directly!

About Shelli’s (missing) video…..

Oops!  I screwed up (again) and forgot that videos don't translate too well (or at all) into subscription feeds!  So when I just received my most recent post delivered by Feedburner, it ended with the words, "Here, let Shelli tell you in her own words"……..

And then it trailed off and looked like I'd stupidly forgotten to finish writing the post!

But actually, I'd embedded a video at that point, which IS visible and playable when actually visiting my blog, but I apologize for forgetting that videos don't appear in feeds.  Or at least not in Feedburner email feeds anyway.

So if you would like to hear "Shelli tell you in her own words", please visit the article ON my blog: (you can click here to get there), and then please watch her short video.

Geesh, I KNOW about that pesky little bug, but why can't I ever seem to REMEMBER until I mess something up!?!

SOooo sorry for the blooper……

Hostess Appreciation Party 2011 – Part 1

P7190023
Wow! I'm not sure where the last 2 weeks have gone, but I think a week of Convention travel and excitement, followed by a mad scramble to be ready for another one of my very favorite events of the year – my annual Hostess Appreciation Party – had *something* to do with moving the date marker from "early July" to "late July" in the blink of an eye!

Convention was awesome (as always!), and in fact I'd probably rate Convention 2011 as among the "awesome-est", lol!  But we'll save that for another time and skip directly to last Friday night – when I got the chance to hang out with some of my very favorite people, my 2010 – 2011 Hostesses!

As you may already know I try to do something "a little bit different" for the invitation to this fun, fun annual event, and although not exactly planned this way, this year ended up with TWO elements of "different".  Not only was the design of the invitation on the unique side, but because of the timing of how everything mashed together this month (new catalog debut, then my regular card classes, followed by having to move Crafting Adventures up earlier in the month to accommodate the timing of Convention – and then of course Convention itself…..), hard as I tried, I couldn't get the invitations completed before my plane headed off to Salt Lake City……. and, I WANTED TO BE ON THAT PLANE!

So once back from all the Convention excitement, I found myself running up and down the Island the middle of last week hand-delivering 13 invites!  Which not only turned out to be lots of fun 'cuz I got to watch some of you actually OPEN your invitations, but also may have kept them safe from potential damage (melting, crushing, whatever) in the mail. So it was probably for the best anyway.

So, here's what the pile of invitations looked like before heading out to their respective homes:

And here's what one looked like partially open (some elements of the invitation wording have been altered for photography purposes). But as you pulled on the ribbon tab at the top, the Hersheys bar pulled out and simultaneously the invitation card extended out the bottom!

BTW, if you'd like to learn how to create the mechanics inside this card, be sure to join us for one of my Crafting Adventures class sessions in August; – 'cuz we'll be making a similar type of card – although it won't include chocolate this time, lol.

And here's something else you might like to know: while you MAY find some examples on the web for creating this basic style of card, at my Crafting Adventures class next month I'll teach you the UPGRADE version I've invented – so your slider card can actually stand up to being played with over and over and over again without tearing or falling apart! (And after all, isn't that why you MAKE an interactive card like this in the first place?)

So in case you were wondering, yes, the design on the cardstock was done with My Digital Studio.  I took the chocolate bar image (available as part of  a digital download) and placed it randomly all over an 8-1/2 x 11 page (at all different angles) in Early Espresso, and then did the same with the little hearts (digital punch images filled with Island Indigo).  Then printed that page out onto Crumb Cake cardstock and cut to the size I needed for my project.  I kept 'hold of the section I trimmed off and didn't need, though, and used THAT section for another project.  (Stay tuned for that in an upcoming post…….)

So let's get your late summer/fall workshop on the calendar now so you'll be assured of an invitation to NEXT summer's Hostess Appreciation Party!  Call me to claim a date on my calendar soon!

Convention downline gifts

P7110008 P7110004 P7110013

Here are the gifts I made for my Sea to Sea Stampers downline group this year for Convention!  Each package includes a notebook, a receipt envelope, and a bag tag.  I'm so excited to have the chance to hang out with these stampin' friends this week!

Convention swaps

P7090008

These are the cards I'm swapping at Convention this year. I actually designed them last fall and mailed out quite a number to friends and family at Halloween time, but since they were designed with My Digital Studio and I still had the artwork on my computer I figured it would make sense to use 'em for my Convention swaps!

So I've been printing and cutting and assembling.  Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but there are actually 3 layers to this card:  the printed layer – printed onto Whisper White cardstock – and then that's trimmed and layered onto Basic Black cardstock, which is then on Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  And what you probably for sure cannot see are the rhinestones (2 to a card), which have been colored black with a Sharpie marker!

Crafting Adventures Class – July 2011

P7060059 Here's one of the projects from my Crafting Adventures Class this past week.  Isn't this a fun box?!? Each one was done with different papers, and ended up trimmed slightly differently, of course.

The tag on this one is two layers attached by an eyelet – so the top layer swivels out of the way to reveal a message on the underneath layer of white.

This box is about 7-1/2" tall…… great for a gift box, or a box of treats.  But wouldn't it be fun to make it shorter?  Wouldn't that make a lovely favor for a wedding or other celebration that way?!?

Tonight’s Crafting Adventures Class – change of venue

July-crafting-adventures-te

Tonight's Crafting Adventures Class has been moved to Burger King in Oak Harbor.  Yes, we've secured premission from the manager to hold our class at Burger King! So here are some hints of what you'll make if you can join us at 6:30 tonight. (But please let me know you're coming, of course – so I can have enough supplies prepped!)

Class is $12 ……. or half-price with a $20 order……. or FREE with a $30 order.  Bring your own SNAIL adhesive; everything else is included.  Well, except your dinner, of course.  🙂
