So if you were following my frustrating browser saga last month, you already know that I was about ready to kick Internet Explorer 8 (and maybe even my entire computer) out of my life altogether. Until Firefox proved a thousand times worse, and then I eventually settled on Safari for browser purposes for a month or so. But finally bored with THAT, I took a chance and went back to IE 8 just about a week or so ago. Figured maybe whatever bugs there had been in those early weeks might have been resolved by now. (Well, a girl can always hope, right?)
But alas, no such luck. I STILL about pulled all my hair out while trying to submit a big workshop order last week! Customers' entire orders were disappearing – and reappearing, dollars were dancing in the summary column; it was all pretty frustrating. Thought about calling Stampin' Up!® to see if they had any wise words of advice, but never did get around to it; just continued to struggle through it. "Saved" and backed out and re-entered again and again . Stupidly, I know - but I finally made it through and figured I'd mess with it NEXT time I had an order to submit.
Until today….. when a customer called in frustration complaining that the order she was attempting to submit online had products disappearing from HER shopping basket right before her eyes. Hmmm….sounded familiar, so I inquired about her browser and sure enough – IE 8. Sent her off to try again with Safari, and I got on the horn with Stampin' Up!
And came away with the SOLUTION! (Well, I will consider it the "solution" until my next order, anyway, when I will either get proved right or wrong.)
So here's the scoop – in case you, too, should encounter similar problems while using IE 8. It's pretty simple, really.
Start by going to the website that's giving you fits. (Demonstrators, you should log onto the demo site, and customers should log onto the online ordering system as if you're about to place an order.)
Now locate the "Tools" option on your IE 8 toolbar. Click the drop-down list and select "COMPATIBILITY VIEW SETTINGS". In the box called "Add this website" you'll probably already see "stampinup.com"; click the nearby "add" button….. and then the "close" button at the bottom of that window, and that's all there is to it!
Oh, but since you'll still be at my ordering website, you might want to go ahead and order yourself up somethin' fun anyway! 🙂
